About the program

The Home care program readies you to provide health care support services within the community and to create a pathway to a career in this rapidly growing area of the health care industry. Home care workers are trained to help people maintain their independence and remain in their homes by improving their living conditions and assisting them in their daily activities.

You will learn in our state of the art labs, fully equipped with all of the amenities to replicate a real world health care setting. Our experienced teachers have firsthand home health care experience and provide you with real world insight. Classroom learning is hands on and you will be encouraged to work in small groups as you move step by step through the program’s modules. Our graduates have a very high rate of job placement and find work in a variety of settings, including CLSC’s, foster homes, hospitals, and private home care agencies.

Skills you will learn:

  • How to prepare and plan nutrition rich meals
  • Home safety and tasks of daily living
  • Medication management
  • How to provide a range of care supports for a person at home

A career in health care

Home health care workers continue to be in high demand as more and more care is provided in communities. They work as part of health care teams and one on one with different clients, from children to seniors.

About LBP Continuing Education

Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) is one of the largest English school boards in Quebec in terms of student enrollment, serving approximately 21,000 students in the Youth sector and approximately 8,700 in its Continuing Education sector. The Board is responsible for a network of 37 elementary schools, 13 secondary schools and 8 Continuing Education Centres.
