Adult Education Programs

Semi-Skilled Program

Offered at our adult education centres, our semi-skilled trade program provides students with the employability skills needed to enter the labour market as they practice a semi-skilled trade.

Description

At Place Cartier this program is known as Thrive. Thrive is a 2-3 year program that runs from September through to June.

Each year, students will learn from both the Social Integration and Sociovocational Integration curricula.

During their time in our program, students will gain work experience through school-based work initiatives, group volunteer experiences in the community and individual stage work in a field of their choosing.

As a class, we will work to explore each student’s individual strengths and areas of interest to find them meaningful paid or volunteer work!

At PACC the program is known as SEED. The SEED program provides students with accessible educational and employment opportunities.

This two-year semi-skilled program integrates English, French and math with life skills and work skills to help students reach their personal and vocational goals.

Students benefit from a supportive environment, individualized learning opportunities, and practical work experience through 375 stage hours.

After completing SEED, students will receive a certificate in a semi-skilled trade and can transition into the workforce, a vocational training program, or pursue academic courses. Our students have gone on to gain employment in the food service industry, at veterinary clinics and at charity organizations.
